LOSTOCK Gralam are celebrating after they received a cool £2,000 in sponsorship money.

The Grey Lambs are currently redeveloping their Manchester Road ground behind the Slow and Easy pub and the cash will be used to continue the club’s grass-roots programme.

Wirral-based Brooktherm Refrigeration donated £1,000 which was added to Government funding from Sportsmatch.

Some of the funds have already been put to good use as club officials have bought a new away kit and tracksuits for the first team.

The remainder will be spent on equipment and training for coaches to launch the club’s junior academy next season.

Club secretary James Birdsey said: “This is a significant amount of money for the club to fulfil our commitment to delivering grass-roots activities alongside the club’s exciting capital programme to redevelop the ground.

“The tender documents for the ground have now been completed, and this funding will ensure we have a high quality junior system in place to utilise the new facilities upon completion for the 2010/11 season.

“We’re delighted that Brooktherm want to be a part of this programme, and look forward to a productive partnership.”

Lostock’s senior sides are both flying high this season, with the first team up to fourth in Cheshire League Division Two and the Reserves in third in the Crewe and District league.

“The quality of coaching at the club is already very high, and we’re able to draw on the experience of Neil Bithell, who works with Manchester United’s Academy sides and Ross Speight, who is a UEFA B coach,” added Birdsey.

“They have taken the club on to the next level and will do an excellent job of overseeing the implementation of the junior sides.”
