A 10-year-old from Great Sutton tasted sweet success after winning a national competition.

Katie Jones was named a Haribo Little Apprentice - giving her the chance to experience the exciting sights and smells of the famous sweet factory.

Katie was one of just ten children to enter the Happy World of Haribo where she worked with the team, met brand mascot Goldbear, took a tour around the factory, tasted brand new treats and came up with her own imaginative sweet suggestions, flavours and textures.

To win the prize Katie had to explain what she would do if she ran the factory for a day and what sweet treat she would invent  Her sweet treat was loom bands in fruity flavours that matched the colours.

Marketing Manager Hayley Johnson said: “This is a really popular competition so Katie should be really pleased that her treat idea secured a visit to the factory.

"Everyone who visited the factory had a fantastic time, I know they enjoyed seeing how Haribo Starmix is made and also tasting some of our top secret treats. It was certainly an experience which we hope they will remember forever.”

Katie said: “It was the best day ever because I met lots of new people and friends. I had a great time and a good laugh. My favourite part was choosing the treats to fill my box of goodies."
