Pupils in the Peckforton house at Tarporley CE Primary School are celebrating after winning this year’s school sports day by only three points.

The school has four houses named after local castles; Peckforton, Beeston, Chester and Cholmondley and children competed wearing their special house colours.

It was a traditional sports day and everyone took part in a variety of races; running races, sack races and the always challenging egg and spoon. The children hurtled past their parents in each race to receive a sticker at the finish line.

A school spokesperson said: “Even though it was a close finish, everyone remembered to show good sportsmanship and there were smiles all round when the winners were announced.
