A SPECIAL briefing for prospective Neston town councillors has been very well attended.

Neston’s new town council is on the look out for committed, enthusiastic people interested in becoming councillors.

Information at the briefing was provided by Jackie Weaver, chief officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils (ChALC), along with Chalky White, its development officer.

Neston residents found out what powers the new council will have, the roles and responsibilities of councillors, the likely number of meetings to be held by the council, as well as some examples of what town councils have been able to do for their communities.

Mr White said: “We’re delighted that the briefing attracted so much attention.

“There are spaces for 17 councillors on the new council but far more people than that came along to the briefing. It looks like it could be a lively election.”
