A DREAM came true for Great Sutton’s Gaynor Budd when she met TV heartthrob and performer John Barrowman.

She got a hug from the Torchwood star at Slimming World’s awards ceremony in Birmingham.

Gaynor, a Slimming World consultant who runs weekly groups at Hope Farm Community Centre, was over the moon when John called her ‘an inspiration’ to all slimmers.

John, who plays Captain Jack in the Doctor Who spin-off, said: “Seeing people’s dreams come true is an incredible thing and I’ve had the privilege of doing that through my TV career.

“Gaynor is special because she is helping people to achieve their dreams every week. It really is a pleasure to meet her.”

Having capped an exciting year by meeting John, the guest of honour at the event, Gaynor is feeling positive about the year ahead.

She said: “Meeting John was an amazing experience.

“I couldn’t believe that he was even more gorgeous in real life but I’ll be treasuring our photograph together.”

Gaynor added: “I can’t wait to get back to my Great Sutton group and help more people to lose weight and improve their health.

“The message I’m giving people this New Year is that with the support of like-minded people anything is possible.

“I know times are tough financially but looking after your health and well-being is a priority and, in fact, members of my group tell me they’re spending less on food now than they ever were – so they’re winning all round.”

Slimming World’s annual awards recognise the achievements of successful slimmers throughout the country.
