COUNCIL chiefs have called for further public consultation on proposals to create a new parish in Northwich.

At Vale Royal Borough Council’s executive group meeting on Thursday, November 13, it was decided an online consultation on the possibility of a new Kingsmead parish will run from mid December to the middle of February.

A previous consultation revealed that out of 1,500 people who responded, the majority wanted to have a new parish council based on the Kingsmead development.

Council officers are now drawing up a new consultation, which will give residents the chance to comment on the creation of a new parish, the boundary, the name and the number of councillors representing the area.

There will also be an opportunity for comment on the changes a new parish would bring for people living in Davenham and Northwich.

Cllr Val Godfrey, lead councillor for engaging communities, said: “We have listened to people in the parishes of Davenham and Northwich and this action will hopefully create a parish that will help the community to grow stronger.”
