More than 170 energetic fundraisers turned out in force for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Ellesmere Port.
Milers of all ages were sponsored to do one, three or six miles around the Stanney Oaks Athletics Track making the day a huge success with friends, families and work mates all joining together to go the extra mile for Sport Relief 2014.
Brio Leisure Bear joined in the fun and encouraged participants who included students from the University of Chester and members of West Cheshire Athletic Club who helped organise the event.
Event organiser Dennis Wall said: “It was an amazing day.
“Watching the community come together to support such a great cause was brilliant! “We feel so proud knowing that the money raised here today will help people living really tough lives right here in Cheshire, the UK and across the world.”
All over the UK, people of all ages joined in to run, swim or cycle at more than 1,000 Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games events across the length and breadth of the country over the Sport Relief weekend.
The charity says it would like to thank everyone who has donated money or given their time to fundraise.
Fundraisers are urged to send in their sponsorship money to www.sportrelief.com .
