A charity race night is being held at The Blues Bar, Chester FC, on Friday, October 3, in memory of Helen Steele.

Former Christleton High School pupil, Helen from Boughton, died aged 42 after a battle with cancer.

The mum of one, showed tremendous courage throughout her illness and was always happy and had a smile on her face, despite the pain she was obviously going through.

School friends Pippa Halliwell, Rachel Burton, Jane Lucas and Kim Crowe decided they wanted to do something in Helen’s memory and the race night was born.

The event has been sponsored by local businesses Aird Landscapes, The Carpet Room, Buildbase, Lumin8, Spencers Newsagents, Complement and Car Transplants and proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Hospice of The Good Shepherd in Backford.

Tickets for the event are now completely sold out, but there are still some sponsorship opportunities available. If anyone would like to make a donation, or sponsor a horse, they can contact Pippa Halliwell on 07909 546242 or Jane Lucas on 07917 714843.
