NEW Bangor boss Nev Powell has swooped for four significant new signings, as he rebuilds the Welsh Premier club’s squad for next season.
Powell’s initial batch of arrivals – with more to follow – are goalkeeper Paul Smith, midfielders Marc Limbert and Gareth Parry and left-winger Les Davies.
Smith and Limbert, scorer of 17 goals last term, have followed their manager in his switch from Connah’s Quay Nomads, while Parry and Davies are recruits from Porthmadog.
Davies, who lives in Bangor, was with City previously and is remembered for scoring some spectacular goals, before he joined Porthmadog two years ago.
Powell said: “These are four major signings, as players who have something special to offer, and are proven performers in the Welsh Premier.”
City’s new boss has met all the club’s players from last season and gained assurances from most that they will re-sign in the near future.
Club captain and central defender Paul O’Neill is alredy under contract.
One re-signing already is teenage winger Sion Edwards, who was acclaimed as the City fans’ player-of-the-season but had seemed to be heading to Rhyl.
Powell said: “I have one or two other signings in the pipeline – including a goal scorer – but the details will have to wait a little longer.”
Pre-season friendly games arranged so far will be at home to Powell’s old club, Tranmere Rovers, on Wednesday, August 8, and against Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, August 11.
