A FORMER Coronation Street battleaxe has revealed she can’t wait to reach Ellesmere Port during a tour of The Vagina Monologues.

Actress Vicky Entwistle, who played feisty knicker factory worker Janet Battersby in the soap, will take to the stage at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on Saturday, November 24.

She will play the lead role alongside Emmerdale’s Hayley Tamaddon and 2.4 Children star Clare Buckfield in a one-off performance of the show that has wowed audiences across the world.

Vicky said: “There’s always a special buzz when I’m playing on stage in the North West so I’m looking forward to the Ellesmere Port date. It enables me to catch up with family and old friends from Coronation Street.

“I’ve never actually been to the town before but I’ve heard about the designer outlet stores, although I have to admit I do let women down when it comes to being fashionable and if I was really honest I hate shopping.”

The Civic Hall audience will see Vicky play a range of different characters in the play, which critics have described as ‘hilarious, poignant and incredibly moving’.

Vicky, who hails from Lancashire and lives in the Ribble Valley with husband Andy, added: “I’ll always love Janice’s character from the Street. You can’t spend 14 years playing a role and not have pangs when you leave but the Monologues have given me a new and wonderful challenge to play such a range of completely different roles. I hope people will have a wonderful night when they come along.”

Tickets for the Civic Hall performance are £18.50 and £16.50, with additional discounts for party bookings. To book, visit www.brioleisure.org or call 01606 814640.
