HOME is where the heart is and in a month’s time Northwich Vics could finally be able to call the Victoria Stadium just that.

Owner Jim Rushe told the Chronicle that his consortium, including two other local businessmen, were “about 95% there with the funding”.

Rushe revealed that the £1.5m offer to buy the Wincham stadium was four weeks from being completed and that he was also staying positive about a redrafted Company Voluntary Arrangement.

“Administrators are currently in the process of putting a new CVA to offer to the Inland Revenue with a few changes. Hopefully they will find that acceptable,” he said.

Rushe also made a impassioned plea to the people of Northwich to start using the stadium as much as possible to help stabilise the football club’s finances.

“It’s good news,” he said. “But what we really need is for the public to use the stadium as much as possible, whether it be for a car boot sale, a charity football match or a function, to make sure it is remains viable.

“In essence we need the town to need the football club.”

Saturdays fixtures: Northwich Vics v Harrogate Town (BSN), Colwyn Bay v Witton Albion (FAT), Oldham Town v Winsford United (FAV).
