A FACEBOOK group enabling people to swap and buy each other’s unwanted items has launched in Ellesmere Port.

Flea-bay covers the Ellesmere Port, Neston and Chester areas and enables people in the community to exchange their unwanted goods for free.

It started about six months ago when its Ellesmere Port creator went to a refuse yard and noticed a van always parked up near the skips being loaded with any good items by one opportunist man.

Flea-bay’s founder says if you need a new couch, chair, bike, or computer the chances are there is someone in the area trying to give them away – and his Facebook group is the place to find it.

He said: “I decided to make a free site on Facebook where people can sell, swap or just give away.

“I found this useful as one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

“With the recession going on and high fuel prices, everyone needs a bit of extra money.

“I hope this site will be used on an everyday basis.”

Flea-bay promises to make it easy to bring people together so they can save money, time, and help the environment by giving stuff away.

Users need only upload a picture of the item they want to sell, swap or give away and invite other users to register their interest before making contact and agreeing to meet up to exchange the item.
