THE image of the firefighter is one of the favourite romantic fantasies.
But on Valentine's Day they carried a serious message to customers in card shops and florists.
Firefighters in Wrexham were promoting fire safety by visiting the shops most likely to be full on Monday and dispensing life-saving advice.
A leaflet was created with fire safety tips to ensure that customers had a safe and happy Valentine's Day.
It was handed out to customers who purchased Valentine's cards or flowers.
'We are trying to use every opportunity possible to highlight the importance of fire safety to members of the public and on Valentine's Day we urged people to be vigilant and make sure their loved ones are safe from fire,' said community fire safety manager Mark Jones.
'We emphasised to the public the importance of installing and maintaining a smoke alarm in their property and answered questions on fire safety.'
