FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman after her car flipped onto its roof after skidding on ice.

At 6.45am yesterday, emergency services were called to Parkgate Road in Chester after reports of a collision.

When they arrived crews from Chester fire station discovered a Ford Ka had flipped on to its roof and the female driver was trapped inside.

Firefighters rescued the woman, who was thought to be in her 20s, from the vehicle, placing her on a spinal board before handing her over to paramedics at the scene.

She was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be treated for minor chest and back injuries.

Parkgate Road is currently closed while police attempt to make the road safe for drivers.

It is thought the car skidded on the frozen road before hitting a curb and flipping on to its roof.
