AN ELLESMERE Port hotel had to be evacuated when an extractor fan caught fire in a first-floor room.

Two fire engines from Ellesmere Port Fire Station rushed to the scene at Mercure Chester North Woodhey House Hotel, Berwick Road West, Little Sutton, at 6.26pm yesterday (Thursday).

The crews found an extractor fan on fire in a first-floor room of the hotel and firefighters, four wearing breathing apparatus, used one hose reel jet and a high-pressure fan to put out the blaze.

All guests and staff were accounted for.
