WINNINGTON Park Primary School, on Firdale Road, is holding a series of festive art and craft workshops in the run-up to Christmas.

Three Sunday sessions will be held on December 7, 14 and 21 from 2-4pm, costing £3 each. All materials are supplied and any child aged six or over is welcome.

Youngsters will make Christmas cards in the first workshop, and tree and table decorations in the following sessions.

Bakery change

HAMPSON bakers on Northwich Road, Weaverham has changed its name to sister brand Sayers.

The store is one of more than 80 Hampsons branches across the North West which will be rebranded over the coming weeks.

A company spokesman said: “The new look Sayers will still be offering the same great products, at the same great prices and great value that Hampsons has always offered. And of course there will still be the same familiar faces behind the counter, even if they might be sporting new uniforms.”

Christmas fair

ST BEDE’S RC High School on Keepers Lane, Weaverham is holding a Christmas fair on Saturday from 2-4pm.

There will be refreshments, stalls and crafts on offer, a tombola and a raffle with prizes including a range of hampers and £100 cash.

Children’s boss

CHESHIRE West Council has appointed John Stephens as its new director of children and young people’s services.

The current deputy director of children’s services at Salford City Council will take up his position when the new council comes into being on April 1, 2009.

Cheshire West chief exec Steve Robinson said: “John brings with him a wealth of experience in both professional and voluntary roles and has a real commitment towards improving outcomes for children, families and communities.”

Health check

THE Health Partnership will offer osteoporosis screening sessions in Northwich and Winsford next month.

The sessions, which cost £20, are held on December 18 at Northwich Memorial Hall from 9am-noon, and at Winsford Library from 2-7pm.
