A family have paid tribute to a 15-year-old boy who was killed when his bike collided with a lorry.

Connor Joseph Maddocks was riding his bike along Princes Road when he collided with a lorry close to Bargain Booze at 2.40pm on Tuesday, August 16.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Connor, a pupil at University Church of England Academy’s North campus on Woodchurch Lane, fought for his life for nearly seven hours but died at 9.30pm.

Cheshire police are appealing for witnesses following the collision.

He is survived by mother and father Tammy and Darren Maddocks and siblings Tyler, Chloe and Ellie.

His mum paid an emotional tribute to her young son: “My beautiful boy Connor, just 15 years old, still such a baby when you got snatched from me in such a cruel way, your my world. I love you and miss you angel.

“Sleep tight. We will see you soon mum, dad and your brother and sisters Tyler, Chloe and Ellie.”

The driver of the lorry, a 48-year-old man from Birkenhead, was not injured.

A Facebook group was set up within an hour of Connor’s death allowing friends to post tributes.

Becca Parker added: “Sleep tight angel! you tried your best to fight your way through this but only god takes the best babe!... and you sure are!... he needed an angel & thought you were perfect! Godbless Con! Never forgotten babe.”

The University Church of England Academy – which experienced tragedy last October when another pupil, Jordan Rose, also 15, died of Leukaemia – released a statement on its website, stating: “Connor was a very popular student and was well liked by all staff and fellow students.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Connor's family and friends.”
