WORK is set to start on doubling the size of Warrington's Golden Square shopping centre in a multi-million pound project. At least four national high street fashion retailers have expressed an interest in opening in the town alongside Debenhams.

Major construction work will start on February 28, beginning with the part-demolition of the Legh Street multi-storey car park. The two-year project will see Golden Square increase from 310,00sq ft to 640,000sq ft together with a new bus station.
