Local theatre company Action Transport Theatre joined forces with Essar Oil UK to bring its latest professional show STATIk to Hinderton Primary School in Ellesmere Port.

Hinderton School is a special school for children with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and social communication needs.

The show, which is a wordless comedy for children, was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and pupils alike.

The show is the first instalment of Action Transport Theatre’s CREATIVE KIDS programme, made possible through support from Stanlow-based Essar Oil UK.

The programme will work with the Ellesmere Port’s 24 primary and SEN schools to deliver creative workshops, theatre performances, family activities and special projects tailored to each school.

It will enable up to 1,720 disadvantaged children aged five-11 to develop literacy and communication skills, enhance their awareness of essential personal and social skills, and raise aspirations so that every child in Ellesmere Port has access to the brightest possible future.

Ian Cotton, of Essar Oil UK, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Creative Kids programme and supporting Action Transport Theatre as they continue to undertake valuable work within our community.”

Action Transport Theatre’s current professional show The Pied Piper is a festive extravaganza of song and dance as the company takes a Christmas twist on the traditional tale.

The remainder of the performances take place next week for schools. Visit www.piedpiperintheport.co.uk for more tickets and more information.
