LISTED building consent was granted for an entrance canopy at a hotel and pub in the borough's Green Belt.

The application was submitted at The Burleydam Hotel, Chester Road, Childer Thornton, by Premier Inn Hotels.

The canopy would be added to a two-storey bedroom extension to the hotel agreed in 2009, according to a report.

No objections were raised by conservation officers.

The entrance canopy, with oak posts and a slate roof, would not be detrimental to the listed pub, planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council believed.

It would be sympathetic to the original building and would aid the long term use of the heritage asset.

The application was recommended for approval.

The borough council agreed listed building consent could be granted on the basis the canopy would not harm the special architectural features and historic character of the listed building.
