VAUXHALL Motors Employees’ Charity Fund has handed over £1,000 to Birkenhead Red Cross.

Workers contribute a sum of money to the fund from their wages each week.

Treasurer Jayne Hill said: “Our charity committee was very keen to get involved with supporting the British Red Cross.

“They do a fantastic job in the UK and we are delighted our donation will go some way to helping them with the service they provide.”

Birkenhead Red Cross offers facilities and support to residents through emergency response, first-aid training, transport services and medical loan schemes, whereby medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and commodes, are loaned out to those that may be unable to acquire it themselves.

Alexis Fairclough, Red Cross senior fundraiser, said: “It is fantastic to have the support of GM employees and we are very grateful for their donations.

“The money donated by the charity committee will help Birkenhead Red Cross Centre provide essential lifesaving equipment to enable volunteers to respond to emergencies.”
