SEA cadet training in Ellesmere Port received a £200 boost after the Vauxhall Charity Committee presented the charity with a cheque.

Members of the committee visited the cadets on Friday to give them the cash.

Recognising the work Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets do for children in the community, the firm’s charity fund donated £200, which will help its training fund.

Andrew Miller, Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, who is a strong supporter of the sea cadets, said: “Out of all the local youth charities the sea cadets is one of the most productive, providing great experiences and training.”

Commanding officer Toni Cioma said: “The sea cadets is like a family, it provides grounding for children from diverse backgrounds and helps to keep them level, providing them with the training and exposure to give them a head start in life.”

Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets provides youngsters aged 10-18 with the opportunity to learn life skills such as team working and leadership skills via nautical adventure training such as sailing.
