THE ROTARY Club of Ellesmere Port is appealing for new members.

The club was founded in 1954 and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes. Its community projects include:

Raising more than £1,700 last year for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd with functions at Eaton Park and a quiz night at Mollington Village Hall.

Arranging for a wheelchair to be designed at the University of Manchester for a young woman from Belarus born without legs as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.

Taking children to Chester Zoo.

The members also arrange social evenings such as trips out to the theatre.

The club meets on Wednesdays at the Woodcote House Hotel, Hooton, at 6.30pm. It is a dual-gender club and anyone interested in joining can call vice president Geoff Green on 01244 851154.
