THE Big Lunch brought the community together in Ellesmere Port.

More than 800 residents hosted their second Making a Difference event in a bid to ensure their neighbourhood friendships remain strong.

The event included the Annual Volunteer Awards ceremony, the launch of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Corporate Volunteering Strategy and the first Our Place Community Award.

The Avenue of Volunteering promoted some of the volunteering opportunities in the area as well as showcasing current schemes.

The highlight of the day was the Ellesmere Port’s Got Talent show, sponsored by Ellesmere Port Development Trust, as well as a mini fairground, DJ sessions, pony rides, fly ball display, Spots vs Stripes sports activities and a BMX Jam hosted by Big Bills Bikes.

The aim of The Big Lunch was to get as many of the 61 million people in the UK as possible to get together with their neighbours for a few hours of community, friendship and fun.
