DIGNITARIES will gather in Ellesmere Port for the Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial in the Civic Square on Sunday, starting at 10.30am.

The Armed Forces, The Royal British Legion, The Salvation Army, police, Air, Army and Sea Cadets will be in attendance with Ellesmere Port and Neston MP Andrew Miller and Mayor of Ellesmere Port Cllr Gareth Anderson.

Poppy wreaths will be placed in tribute to the fallen and the two minutes silence will be observed at 11am.

The Ellesmere Port branch of Normandy Veterans will also conduct a short service at their memorial in Stanney Lane.

The combined services of Ellesmere Port will march to Saint Thomas and All Saints’ Parish Church on Whitby Road for the Service of Remembrance.

The parade will then return to Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, when the mayor will take the salute on Civic Way.

Refreshments will be available in the civic hall between 1pm and 3pm.
