AN ELLESMERE Port man used a fake picture on the internet to incite two twelve-year-olds to expose themselves to him via a webcam.

Carl Hodson, 26, of Princes Road, admitted in Chester Crown Court on Monday to inciting the girls to engage in sexual activity between May 10, 2008, and August 6, 2008.

Hodson had used social networking site Bebo to make contact with the girls over the internet.

DC Graham Slatter from Cheshire Police Paedophile Unit said: “He had used a picture of a young attractive man, aged around 19, as his profile picture on the site to attract these girls.”

Hodson had started using Bebo, then moved on to MSN and his mobile phone to talk to his victims. The girls, who were from the Devon and Cornwall area, had been talking to Hodson regularly for about six months and thought he was a teenager.

“It was only when Hodson said he would drive down and meet them in a car park near where they lived for some fun and a fumble in his car, did they panic and tell their parents, who then told the police,” said DC Slatter.

During the six-month contact period, Hodson had asked the girls to expose their breasts over the internet.

DC Slatter said Hodson had about 100 contacts on his MSN profile, mostly of young girls.

When police raided his home they found his computer and mobile phone contained indecent images of children.

Hodson also pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children between January 2006 and April 2006 and January 2008 and May 2008.

DC Slatter said: “Hodson was very calculated and knew exactly what he was doing.

“I feel we caught him before he could do anything more serious. This was a fantasy for him. He would not want to meet these girls because it would ruin the fantasy.

”These girls thought they were talking to a teenager, not a 26-year-old man.

“I would just warn youngsters about what they put on the internet. The basic rule is do not talk to anyone you do not know on the internet. Do not put anything on the net you would not want to see on a billboard in the street.

“Girls are particularly at risk because they are much more likely to put personal information out on the net rather than boys.”

Hodson, who has no previous convictions will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court in the week commencing August 2.
