A hairdressing student from West Cheshire College won the prize of a lifetime after she was chosen to style the hair of models during Liverpool Fashion Week.

Victoria Faye, 20, worked with models for leading high street shops after winning the competition set by renowned hairdresser and owner of the Boutique Salon and Spa in Ellesmere Port, Richard Phillipart.

Victoria, who is from Ellesmere Port, works at the Style Council hairdressing salon in the town.

She went up against other hairdressing students from the college to recreate an image from the Paris and London fashion weeks, beating the competition to be named as the winner.

Victoria, who is studying level 4 hairdressing at the college, said: “I was really excited about taking part in the competition through college and recreated a style on my friend that I found on the internet and added my own touch. “I coloured it and curled it and then added height and volume to the top.

“I never thought I would win and I was delighted to find out that Richard had chosen me.”

She added: “Richard is a really well-known hairdresser and has styled hair for people on the X Factor and I was so nervous about working for him at Liverpool Fashion Week. I learnt so many new skills from him and he was so helpful.

“Liverpool Fashion Week was an incredible experiences as I worked alongside Richard to style the hair of models from shops including New Look and Monsoon.

“There was quite a quick turnover for styling their hair so there was a lot of pressure but it was a fantastic experience.

“Working with Richard and his team was amazing they all made me feel very welcome and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.”

Lesley Durham, hairdressing tutor at the college, said: “Victoria is such a talented student who always works so hard so I was delighted when she won this competition.

“She gained so much from being involved in the fashion week and she has come back to college with so much more confidence and has been sharing the skills she learnt with other students.”
