Soroptimist International of Ellesmere Port and District celebrated International Women’s day by lighting three candles and reading peace messages from Soroptimist friends over the globe.

A further two candles were lit: one for all the women in the world and one for the members of the club, giving encouragement to work for a better world for women and girls.

The club also celebrated the Soroptimist Day of Service by taking residents from Mayfield’s residential home for those with Alzheimer’s out to afternoon tea at a Garden Centre.

On returning to Mayfield’s club members visited the gardens to view the beautiful display of daffodils from the bulbs they planted last year.
