YOUNGSTERS in search of thrills and spills should look no further than Ellesmere Port Air Cadets.

With the promise of adventure, sports, fun and getting to know people the squadron welcomes any young person aged 13-17 and there will be an open night on February 16.

The air cadets stress they are not a recruiting organisation for the armed services.

Cadets can earn BTECs and Duke of Edinburgh Awards and take part in a range of exciting activities.

Fees are £8 per month and cadets will be provided with most of their uniform for free. Most activities are free or low cost.

New recruits will take part in a 16-week training programme which looks at a wide range of subjects such as leadership tasks, drill, first aid and sports.

The squadron meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm-9.30pm at Squadron HQ in Coronation Road, Ellesmere Port, and are really keen to get some more new recruits starting in February. There are already five new cadets ready to start and places are limited so book your place as soon as possible.

Warrant Officer Jackson, who is the new officer in charge at 1074 Sqn, said: “1074 squadron has gone from strength-to-strength in the last 12 months thanks to lots of hard work by everyone at the squadron.

“We have lots of new staff which has meant our training programme is now more varied than ever and 2012 is definitely going to be an exiting year for us all.”

If you are interested in coming to the open night on February 16 or have any questions, call 07711 356541 or email 1074@aircadets.org to reserve your place as places are limited. For details on 1074 squadron, visit www.1074sqn.org.uk.
