THE annual Good Friday walk of witness by Christians Together in Ellesmere Port started with a service of repentance in the Salvation Army church, conducted by Lt Clare Hayward.

The cross, carried by Ricki Montgomery and Tom Foxall, led the procession through the town to the beat of Canon Gordon McGuinness's drum.

Pausing for reflective talks at various stations, including the Port Arcades and Asda, the walk ended outside Trinity Methodist church where the cross was planted and left standing until Easter Sunday when a 7.30am sunrise service was conducted by the Rev Christine Jones, during which everyone wished peace to everyone else.

This was followed by Easter breakfast in the church's holy cafe.
