A team of fundraisers braved the rain on Saturday, May 10, to take part in the Electric Run in Manchester, raising money for the Emily Ffion Trust.

The trust, which was set up following Emily’s death by Emily’s parents Sara and John Sowden and fellow trustees Nia and Dave Brammer, Emily’s aunty and uncle, supports suddenly bereaved families through the unexpected loss of a child.

The team of 25 runners, including Emily’s aunt Louise Westcott and 13-year-old cousin Hallie Brammer, dressed up in their brightest outfits and tutus for the colourful event, which took place at night around a 5k course of neon lights and music.

Family friend Emma Blizzard, who got the team together, said: “As friends we all wanted to do something to show how much we care and miss Emily and to show our support to Sara, John and families.

“I’d heard about the Electric Run and thought it was the ideal event to remember Emily, we all had an amazing night filled with smiles, laughter, love and a sky full of colour, it was perfect.”

The team have so far raised £2,000.
