I’VE received a very warm welcome from all quarters since I arrived as the new head of Cuddington Primary last month – and I already feel very much “at home”.

I’ve been very impressed with the atmosphere and ethos of this lovely school and the community it serves.

I’ve been teaching for over 20 years, mainly in Wirral, where I became deputy head of a junior primary school in Bebington, before moving to Cheshire in 2006 when I became deputy at Haslington Primary.

I’m happily married to my husband Barry and live in Wybunbury, near Nantwich, close to my parents. We have a grown-up family of five children, all in their early twenties, three of whom are studying at undergraduate or post- graduate level at universities in Manchester and two of whom are beginning careers in writing.

I’ve a clear and simple educational philosophy that is reflected in what goes on at Cuddington Primary. I believe the education we provide should be broad, balanced and exciting.

Every child has the right to be provided with the opportunity to fulfil their academic potential, so that they can reap the rewards and benefits of being confident, enquiring and independent individuals.

I wish to see pupils educated to a high standard, who enthuse about the subjects they study and want to learn more.

I wish to see pupils who can set challenging, yet realistic targets for themselves and who are able to recognise and celebrate their own achievements.

I wish to see pupils who are caring and compassionate and able to take their place as active citizens in a multicultural society.

I look forward to working with the children, staff and parents and with the whole of the school community over the coming years.

We want to develop our place at the heart of the village and are looking at ways to achieve this.

Many of you joined us for the fabulous firework celebrations organised by our hardworking and enthusiastic PTA.

You may get the opportunity to hear our choir at Blackmere nearer to Christmas.

We’re also planning to open a “community room” where we can offer family learning and facilities to community groups.

By working together, we can make a difference to the lives of the children here in Cuddington.
