A COMPUTER expert who hanged himself was pushed over the edge by an e-mail, an inquest at Crewe was told.

James Wilson, 31, of Flag Lane, Crewe, was said to be fed up with his job as a buyer and resigned to set up an on-line business from home.

The hearing was told he was prone to bouts of depression and may have been tipped over the edge by a mystery e-mail which blackened his mood.

Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg said that Mr Wilson had seen a psychiatrist in 1988 to help him control his temper and aggressive behaviour and later the same year he had gained control of himself and was discharged.

His partner, Jane Iron, said: 'He got fed up with his work and resigned, but spent most of his time working on computers.

'He was in the loft when I had dinner with my son.

'He spoke to me only briefly during the evening but he wasn't happy.

'He said he was fed up of not getting any support from anybody. He wasn't happy with someone who was trying to help him with the website.'

Miss Iron went to bed at around 11pm on August 2 and left Mr Wilson in the loft which had been converted into an office space.

She said that he came to bed on two occasions but was restless and eventually got dressed and went back to the loft. She later heard banging but thought nothing of it.

The following morning she took a cup of tea up to Mr Wilson and found he had hanged himself from a window with a leather belt.

Miss Iron said he had threatened suicide before but she never thought he meant it.

Coroner Mr Rheinberg recorded a verdict of suicide.
