A STUDENT from Rudheath has pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving.

Stephanie Bell, 20, of Sovereign Close, admitted the offence at Vale Royal Magistrates Court on Thursday and was disqualified for 12 months.

Catherine Whincup, prosecuting, said Bell had been approached by police officers at around 2am on September 2 after the Ford Fiesta she was driving stopped at Pennys Lane.

The Liverpool Hope University student smelled of alcohol and provided a positive roadside breath test. A blood test confirmed she was over the limit.

Bell, who passed her test last year, told the bench she had been driving back from a party in Antrobus. She said: “I didn’t plan to drive back but it was getting a bit rowdy and people were starting to fight.

“Although I drank I didn’t feel drunk and I didn’t think I was over the limit.”

In addition to the ban magistrates ordered Bell to pay a total of £158 in fines and court costs.
