WREXHAM could have up to seven players on international duty at the end of the month, which will mean seeking a postponement of their second division match against Bury, scheduled for the Racecourse on Friday, August 31.

Manager Brian Flynn anticipates Wales Under-21 call-ups for David Walsh, Steve Roberts and Steve Thomas; Shaun Holmes is likely to be with Northern Ireland U21s and Caribbean trio, Dennis Lawrence, Carlos Edwards and Hector Sam, are in line for World Cup duty with Trinidad.

All three countries' senior and U21 sides are involved in double-headers, playing over the weekend of August 31 and September 1 and on September 4 and 5.

The players involved will be away from the Racecourse for a minimum of 10 days.

With Trinidad now out of the running for qualification through to Japan and Korea next summer, a new Brazilian manager, Renee Samoes, has replaced Ian Porterfield.

"I'm assuming that Dennis and Carlos will be called up for the games against Costa Rica and Mexico and, hopefully, Hector will be involved as well," Flynn said yesterday.

"It would be a huge boost to his confidence to be called up because we will be looking for him to achieve his full potential with us at Wrexham this season."

Wales, and manager Mark Hughes, are still clinging to the mathematical possibility of qualification. But they will be odds-on favourites to beat Armenia at the Millennium Stadium on September 1, thus setting up a must-win situation against Norway in Oslo on the following Wednesday.
