Connah's Quay Nomads 1 Porthmadog 0

MAN-OF-THE-MOMENT Adam Dickinson produced a moment of magic to send Nomads top – albeit for less than 24 hours.

The winger – who is being tracked by Wrexham and Stockport – scored his 12th goal of the season 22 minutes from time to settle Friday night’s North Wales derby.

Quay boss Nev Powell said: "That was a great three points. This was a tough test and again we kept a clean sheet," he said. ‘Porthmadog have just beat Bangor, TNS and Llanelli in the cups so it’s a massive win for us.

"It was another great goal from Adam – he was the difference in the second half."

We are making more people sit up every week and realise we are a force to be reckoned with.

The Deesiders were made to work hard for their victory against a Port side that came into the match on the back of an eight-game unbeaten run and frustrated their hosts in a tight opening period.

Chris Williams twice went close from Marc Limbert set-pieces, while Nomads captain Limbert – back after a three-game ban – fired just wide.

The visitors nearly broke the deadlock just before the break when Les Davies curled wide from an acute angle.

But that was as good as it got for Port, as Powell’s men dominated after the interval.

Dickinson signalled his intentions early on by blazing over after leaving his markers in his wake.

He made no mistake though when Limbert cleverly played a free-kick into his path, as he lifted a beauty over helpless keeper Richard Harvey.

And Dickinson could have made the win more emphatic, only to see his fearsome drive skim the woodwork after yet another dazzling run.
