DELAMERE Forest has been chosen as the ‘magical’ venue for a new family arts event in May.

The Forestry Commission is joining forces with Wild Rumpus – a not-for-profit organisation which produces the award-winning Just So Festival – to host the event at the Cheshire beauty spot.

The event, named Spellbound Forest, will see tales of English fairy tales told through theatrical performance, music, visual art and dance along the forest’s twisting paths. It takes place on May 19 and 20.

Wild Rumpus director Rowan Hoban said: “We’re inviting families to step outside their everyday lives and join us on a spectacular, enchanted adventure through the forest.

“Delamere Forest is a magical location and we’re so very pleased to have the chance to weave our magic there.”

Delamere Forest manager Vernon Stockton added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Wild Rumpus to host this very exciting event in the forest.

“This fairytale spectacular is one of many events for 2012 to encourage people to come to Delamere Forest for new experiences and to enjoy the forest trails, splendid scenery and stunning views.”

Spellbound Forest is bringing together artists and performers who are pushing the boundaries to develop breathtaking work for families and children.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, February 13, when the full programme will be released.
