SMOKERS in Elton are being offered help to break the habit as part of a range of new services offered by pharmacists.

Borough MP Andrew Miller visited Elton Pharmacy to chat to staff about the scheme’s benefits within the community.

Pharmacist Lisa Cordingley: “The pharmacy now offers a stop smoking service.

“We are hoping more people will use the service to stop smoking in the run-up to Christmas to tie in with New Year’s resolutions.

“The stop smoking service offers consultations where we measure levels of carbon monoxide in the blood and then suggest treatments.”

Other services offered at the pharmacy include a minor ailments scheme, which requires no appointment.

“We can treat certain conditions such as coughs, colds, flu, head lice, diarrhoea and vomiting that people would often go the doctor about.”
