Customers at Tesco, Sealand Road, Chester have generously donated over 400 Easter eggs for the children’s unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The chocolate treats will be given to any children who have to spend time on the ward or are having treatment over the Easter period.

Ward manager Anne Martyn said that the eggs would also be distributed to all children attending outpatients and A&E over the Easter period, and the ‘Hospital at Home’ team would deliver eggs to the children in  the community receiving treatment in their own homes.

Tesco also donated cuddly toys and creativity packs for the children who are unable to eat due to treatment or illness.

Angie Lopez, community & events fundraiser who has been liaising with Lee Andrews from Tesco since February about the special donation of eggs said: “Many children spending time in the hospital over the Easter holidays will hopefully have a happy memory because of the generosity of  the supermarkets customers.

“We extend our thanks to everybody involved with this generous gesture.”
