Projects in Frodsham and Kingsley have been feeling the benefit of a combined £100,000 funding boost.

Outdoor gym equipment has been installed at Kingsley playing fields to encourage healthy living in the community.

The money has also been put towards renovations at Frodsham Community Centre.

Each scheme received £50,000 in funding from grant-giving, not-for-profit business WREN.

WREN Cheshire grant manager Richard Smith said: “We’re delighted to have supported these improvements and pleased our funding will have such a positive impact.

“WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact of this one very soon.”

'Going to make a real difference'

Kingsley playing fields now boast an outdoor gym just in time for the summer holidays.

In addition to the established children’s play area and games area, there is now equipment including a treadmill, shoulder press and spinning bike. Pathways and seating areas have also been improved.

Kingsley parish councillor Claire Jones said: “These new recreational facilities in the village are going to make a real difference to our local community.

“As a council we are committed to encouraging the health and well-being of people living here and we’ve already seen people with a broad range of ages and abilities making use of the path and gym.

“We are extremely grateful to WREN for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without its support.”

The public areas at Frodsham Community Centre will be refurbished to make a more attractive welcome.

It is hoped the new look will bring in more visitors once the work is completed in September.

Frodsham Community Assocation chairman Roger Williams said: ”This project will provide a real boost to the people of Frodsham.

“It’s fantastic that WREN as awarded us this money and we are really looking forward to the changes taking shape over the next few months.” For more information about WREN funding visit www.wren.org.uk .
