CLAYS Golf Club members braved the conditions to see their new captains drive into office.
With the course covered in frost, temperatures were below zero as captain Gareth Roberts and Val Jervis started the year in style.
The competition to guess the length of their drives followed, with Mike Carding kindly deciding to donate his winnings to charity.
Gareth drove 210 yards and Val 148.7 yards for a combined total of 358.7 yards.
Steve L Williams (41) won the club’s Saturday Shop Stableford from Frank Steel (39) and David Parry (36).
V Thind (38) won the following day’s Sunday Shop Stableford from Richard Priest Jones (38) and Neil Gledhill (38).
Ray Martin (37) then won the Individual Stableford on a countback from Graham Stokes (37), with Harold Hughes (36) third.
