A TEENAGE martial arts enthusiast has earned his first dan black belt.

Winsford Karate Club’s Christopher Clegg, 15, a pupil at Middlewich High School who has been studying karate since the age of 10, kept up the club’s excellent track record, scoring 63 points to earn the honour.

At the English Institute Of Sport in Sheffield, Dave Warburton’s Koshido Ryu students from his Winsford club kept up Winsford’s 100% pass rate for black belt gradings.

Dave congratulated Chris for his efforts on the day and hoped that he would continue to show the spirit that had contributed to his success.
