CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight has unveiled some sparkling seasonal shows.

Their festive programme is promising entertainment for all – including two pantomimes, a comedy variety show and a Christmas concert.

The season starts on December 12 with the Port Sunlight Players presenting the pantomime Jack & Jill. The traditional family show will be performed on selected dates until December 20.

On Sunday, December 21 the actress, singer and comedienne Pauline Daniels will be aiming to shake-off pre-Christmas shopping blues with Pauline’s Christmas Comedy Cracker.

Support is provided by comedians Sean Styles, Denny Waters and Lenny Anderson.

Pauline and company will be on stage at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2.30pm.

Alan Davies, the theatre’s marketing co-ordinator, said: “The emphasis of our Christmas is on enjoyable fun for all the family.

“At this time, when folk are starting to think about the cost of live entertainment compared with staying at home in front of the TV, it is good to know that in the Gladstone Theatre they have a venue within easy reach, well served by public transport, with free car parking and with show tickets at very affordable prices.”

Post-Christmas Day, the fun continues with the return of folk music band the Houghton Weavers on Sunday, December 28, for their now traditional Christmas concert.

The festive season concludes with Hoylake and West Kirby Theatre Group’s annual rock ’n’ pop panto Sinbad the Sailor.

The fun-packed show follows Sinbad’s eighth voyage across the high seas in search of the missing Persian Prince of Peace.

Performances are from Wednesday, January 7, to Saturday, January 10.
