PUPILS of Childer Thornton Primary School donned pink and red outfits to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

The youngsters wore the clothes on Friday, a Go Pink Day for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and raised £313.06 – smashing the £120 total raised last year.

Suzy Young, whose son Charlie is in Year 1 at the school, has organised many events to raise cash for the charity.

Suzy, from Childer Thornton, made it her mission to raise as much money as possible after her sister-in-law Lila Young died last August.

She said: “In the last year I have held a golf day in Denbigh, collecting in Liverpool One and so far we have raised more than £15,000 in 12 months.

“Charlie is very aware of our fundraising and loves taking part where he can and understands where the money goes.”

Charlie took collection pots around the school to collect donations from the children wearing pink.
