A CHILDER Thornton man who lost his sister-in-law to breast cancer has raised £1,400 by tackling a half marathon in her memory.

Neil Young’s beloved sister-in-law Lila passed away last August, after a battle with breast cancer. Since her death, Neil and wife Suzy – along with Lila’s many family and friends – have made it their mission to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

And on Saturday 40-year-old Neil completed the Silverstone Half Marathon in less than two hours.

He said: “I did it for Lila and it was her that made me carry on when the sun was getting to me”

Neil raised £1,430 – taking the total collected for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Suzy’s memory in just seven months to more than £12,000.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer works to find the causes of breast cancer and to improve detection, diagnosis and treatment.
