Santa Claus came to town when Chester Blue Coat CE Primary School held its annual Christmas Fair and Evening with Father Christmas.

The evening began with Santa and his reindeer arriving at the school on Walpole Street and processing down the drive to be welcomed by the children, before the reindeer settled into their temporary stable in the school garden and Santa read stories and gave gifts to the children.

The Salvation Army Band played carols to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, while the crowds enjoyed the many stalls and games on offer – from traditional tombolas to quality gifts and crafts from selected organisations and local businesses.

Co-chair of the organising Friends group Hannah Mabbutt, said: “It’s been a really successful evening. We’ve raised more than £1,600 to pay for more play equipment for all the children to enjoy, which is fantastic. I’d like to say a big Thank-you to everyone who has supported us, either by helping out, or coming along and enjoying the event.”
