CHESHIRE West and Chester Council has launched iConnect Kiosks at locations across the borough – making council services more accessible for residents.

Each iConnect video kiosk enables residents to see a contact centre adviser on screen and speak to them via a telephone handset about the council service they require.

The public can make enquiries, fill out forms and exchange documents for council services ranging from benefits, registration services and bin collections to highways issues, parking and environmental health simply by using the touch screen.

An IConnect video kiosk has been installed in Civic Way, Ellesmere Port.

Cllr Gareth Anderson, assistant executive member for smarter services, said: “Some of our residents, for various reasons, cannot always visit a council office to submit forms or report a local issue and may not have access to the internet at home.

“We were honoured to receive a highly commended at the Call North West Contact Centre Awards 2012 in the category of Best Contact Centre Solution for our kiosks and I think this demonstrates our work to provide residents with a convenient, real alternative to dealing with the council in a face-to-face way.”
