CHILDREN are being warned not to give out personal details over the internet after a chatroom pervert targeted girls in Ellesmere Port.

The warning from Cheshire Police follows the sentencing of Graham John Seabrook who admitted engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13.

He also asked for a second similar offence to be taken into consideration when he appeared at Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston Magistrates' Court.

Seabrook, 22, from Newstead Road, Cleethorpes, South Humberside, met the girls in an internet chatroom and pretended to be a 12-year-old boy to gain their trust.

They agreed to contact him using a webcam and it was then he committed an indecent act.

The girls blocked him from the computer but months later accidentally unblocked him. Shortly after, on March 16, he committed another indecent act.

But this time one of the girls' parents was present and took video footage on a mobile phone, which was then handed to the police.

Detectives traced Seabrook via phone records. His house and computer were searched.

He was given a community super-vision order for 36 months and must attend Grimsby Probation Office, comply with the Northumbria Sex Offend-er's Programme, sign the national Sex Offenders' Register for five years and pay £43 costs.

Speaking after the case, Detective Con-stable Ian Watson of Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston CID, said: 'This is a pleasing result as the aim was always to ensure this man was placed on the register.

'I thank the parents in this case as they acted very swiftly to video the crime.

'This meant we had such strong evidence that Seabrook had no option but to plead guilty.'

DC Watson added: 'The problem with web chat and internet chatrooms is you can never be certain who you are talking to.

'Because of this it is important to never give out any personal details and if you do think someone is committing an of-fence or acting improperly then you should contact the police.'
