THE Charlatans have been announced as the third and final big-name act to appear at this year’s Forest Live gig series at Delamere Forest.

Best known for their hits The Only One I Know and One to Another, they will be performing as part of the Forestry Commission’s annual concert series.

They join American rockers Blondie and singer-songwriter Paloma Faith for the series of concerts this July.

It will be a return to Delamere Forest for The Charlatans, who last appeared in there to a sell-out crowd in 2007.

Since their breakthrough hit, ‘The Only One I Know’ from their 1990 No 1 debut album, ‘Some Friendly’, The Charlatans have been a pioneering force in British alternative rock music.

This year sees the band return to their Big Mushroom studio to begin working on demos for a new album and also the release of their Mountain Picnic Blues DVD, a documentary on the band’s epic LP, Tellin’ Stories, from its creation in 1997 to the 15th anniversary edition of the album.

Lead vocalist Tim Burgess said, “This is a local gig for the band, which makes it extra special for us and also we hope for our fans.

“Last time we were at Delamere Forest it was a great night and we’re looking forward to playing there again.”

Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission bringing music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship.

Income from the concerts is spent on improving the woodland for both people and wildlife.

The Charlatans plus guests will be performing on Sunday, July 7.

Tickets are priced £34, subject to booking fee, and go on sale at 9am on Friday from the Forestry Commission box office. To buy tickets, call 03000 680400 or buy online at www.forestry.gov.uk/music.
