A charity chilli cook-off is promising to turn up the heat in Frodsham.

Kash 22 in Church Street are hosting the celebration of spice on May 1.

Guests looking to tantalise their taste buds can sample five of Frodsham’s best chilli recipes for a £5 donation. The event is in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Kash 22 manager Paddy Bleakley said: “The chilli cook-off is a great way to get some competition going among our locals.

“Everyone thinks they cook the best chilli, this is their chance to prove it and all while supporting a worthy cause.

“We’re proud to be helping the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Alder Hey so local young people with cancer can get the help they need.”

A judging panel will decide the winning recipe, which will then be featured on the specials board at Kash 22 and be entered in to the UK Chilli Cook Off Association final.

Blues duo Hoppinfrogs, Simon Hughes Magic and the Frodsham belly dance troupe will provide entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Organisers are also setting up a bar and BBQ outside with the hope for some sunny weather.

The Teenage Cancer Trust works to improve the quality of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.

Teenage Cancer Trust fundraiser Sian Day said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Paddy and brilliant to see the local community getting behind the event.

“We rely on voluntary donations raised at events like this to make sure young people with cancer and their families can have access to the best possible support.”
